The Crime Prevention Specialist Who Learns From Criminals

Shamir Rajadurai crime prevention expert Malaysia Book of Records 2024

As Malaysia’s leading crime prevention expert, Shamir Rajadurai does what very few in his field are willing to do. He studies crime from the inside.

For over 15 years, Shamir has done what very few in his field are willing to do go directly to the source. Not reports. Not statistics. Not theory. The actual people who commit crimes. Understanding how they think, how they choose their targets, and what stops them. It is an unconventional approach, and it is exactly what makes it work. That insight, raw, firsthand and difficult to find in any textbook and is the foundation of everything Prevent Crime Now delivers.

Shamir has trained and advised hundreds of organisations across Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines, protecting their staff, assets, corporate IP and physical operations from criminal threats. From lean SMEs to large MNCs spanning oil and gas, tobacco, manufacturing, retail and regulatory sectors, the organisations that work with Shamir don’t just get a workshop. They get a perspective on crime that most security firms simply don’t have. Tens of thousands of individuals trained. And they always want more.

In 2024, Shamir’s contribution to crime prevention in Malaysia was recognised with an entry into the Malaysian Book of Records. In 2025, he was named one of the WikiImpact100 Impact Makers in Social Justice placing him among a select group of individuals driving meaningful change in their field globally. He has been invited as a guest lecturer and speaker by PDRM, Customs, TUDM, SPRM, Court Judges and various regulatory bodies who are institutions that do not extend those invitations lightly.

Shamir’s work is not just experience, it is academically grounded. He holds a PhD in Criminology and a Masters in Criminal Justice, both from Universiti Malaya, alongside a Certified CPTED Practitioner qualification from ICA and FAU. He has further credentials in Data Science and Analytics, and Human Trafficking Prevention and Intervention. The combination of street-level criminal intelligence and academic rigour is rare. It is what allows Shamir to deliver solutions that are not just theoretically sound but ones that actually work in the real world.

Simple. Practical. Effective. Shamir’s philosophy has never changed. Crime prevention should not be complicated. It should not require a security degree to understand. The best solutions are the ones that every person in an organisation from the boardroom to the front line can grasp immediately and act on. That belief has driven every workshop, every consultation and every strategy Prevent Crime Now has ever delivered.

Why Organisations Choose Prevent Crime Now

Most security consultancies will give you a framework. A checklist. A set of standard procedures borrowed from international best practices. It looks good on paper. But it rarely accounts for how crime actually happens on the ground, in your building, in your industry, in your region.

That is where Prevent Crime Now is different.

Our strategies are built on direct criminal intelligence. We understand how criminals think, how they select their targets, what deters them and what doesn’t. That firsthand knowledge is something no certification course or security manual can teach and it is exactly what makes our solutions work where others fall short.

When organisations work with us, they don’t just get a training session. They get a completely different lens on risk. One that changes how their people behave, how their spaces are designed and how their internal processes guard against fraud, theft and criminal threat.

The results are not complicated. Tens of thousands of individuals trained across Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Clients from some of the most security-conscious industries in the region from oil and gas, tobacco, financial services, regulatory bodies who keep coming back because the approach works. Simple. Practical. Effective.
