The Story Behind the Award: Why Scam Prevention is More Than Just Content to Me

If you had told me a few years ago that my videos would be recognized on an international stage, I probably wouldn’t have believed you

Recently, my scam prevention content was recognized at The Money Awareness and Inclusion Awards (MAIAs) 2026. While I didn’t take home the top prize, I am incredibly honored to be named the Runner-Up for Best Content Creators or Aggregators.

But if I’m being completely honest with you? I didn’t start making these videos to win trophies.

The “What If” That Drives Me

The real spark behind this content comes from a much heavier place.

Every time I sit across from someone who has been scammed, the atmosphere is the same. It’s not just about the money—though seeing someone’s hard-earned life savings vanish in an instant is heartbreaking. It’s the look in their eyes. Their dignity has been shaken. They feel vulnerable, trapped, and angry.

Every single time I witness that pain, one thought loops in my head:

“What if they had seen just ONE video before making that transfer? What if a single 60-second clip could have stopped this?”

That “what if” is the entire mission. It is the reason I hit record.

From Malaysia to the Global Stage

To have content that was born right here in Malaysia, produced in both Malay and English, and explicitly aimed at everyday people recognized on a global level… it means the world. It proves that grassroots, ground-level awareness matters.

This recognition wouldn’t be possible without some incredible people pushing for financial literacy worldwide:

  • Michael Gilmore (Co-founder of the MAIAs): Thank you for building a global platform that champions financial awareness and inclusion. What you and your team have created genuinely matters.
  • The MAIA Judging Panel & Team (including Frances Yong, Julia Chin, and Saima S.): Thank you for seeing the value in raw, impactful, community-focused work.

The Real Heroes of This Story

Finally, I need to say thank you to you.

To everyone who has ever watched a video, hit the share button, or tagged a family member in the comments section—you are the real reason this operation works.

I can create the content, but you are the ones delivering the shield. Every single share is a potential shield for someone’s parents, friends, or neighbors. You might literally be saving someone from losing their life savings without even knowing it.

The runner-up title is an incredible milestone, but the landscape of scams shifts every day.

The work continues. Stay safe, stay vigilant, and let’s keep protecting each other.
